Yes, yes, I know this machine has been re-painted, and not terribly well at that, but it’s rare enough to make up for that and appear here.
It’s a version of the well-known Todd Champion of England with the same intricate lock-stitch shuttle mechanism but housed in a more-open frame with a smaller stitch plate.
It was marketed as the Superlative by Todd who was a dealer of sufficient size to have machines badged in his name. The name plate says it was made in Paris
Now, I suppose it’s possible that there is good existing paint beneath the green – I’ve found that on some other machines – but I’m not risking it here, though I must admit it would be an interesting experiment
