Yes, I appreciate that best evidence suggests that Todd Champion of England machine was made in the USA. If memory serves me right, a company in Philadelphia produced the machines. But a good few collectors insist they were made in Britain, so it’s on this page they’ll be looking.
One explanation I recall is that a retailer with the name of Todd sold machines from a London address in the 1880s. This, plus the popularity of an in-style and popular engraving of the time, The Champion of England, might have inspired him to use the name. https://tinyurl.com/y73alajq
Whatever the history, here we have an amazing-condition machine. Just check out the gold design, barely a wear mark anywhere, and the intricate operating shuttle, and you have one really important collector’s item.
