A superbly surviving Raymond machine from the 1870s housed in its original box.
This machine was sold in the UK by P Frank of Liverpool and postdates the agreement that Raymond originally had with British entrepreneur James Weir to sell his machines here.
After Weir set out on his own, Raymond used Frank as his main distributor in the UK, handily placed in Liverpool, of course, for incoming shipping from Canada.
I note from the pictures that the tension assembly is not complete. I have spares and will add them before the machine is shipped.
A copy of ISMACS News featuring the history of the Weir and Raymond sewing machines will be sent with this machine.
