A superb example of the Newton Wilson Princess of Wales machine and one of the last produced.
The stitch plate shows that it was made at the Pope Works in Pope Street, Birmingham, where the Newton Wilson Company moved after being judged bankrupt.
This machine has the remarkable inner drive wheel used for winding bobbins – check out the top picture on the right.
