A late-1860s Alberta head made by the Whight & Mann Company in Ipswich, England.
Before the Company developed its own machines including, of course, the Prima Donna it, like so many pioneer makers, simply copied existing designs. This superbly decorated machine is obviously inspired by the American Wheeler & Wilson model. A few references to the model on the Web but a little detail here:
